The Sint-Sebastiaansgilde Westerlo,

The guild was formed originally for the protection of the castle. We still have a group of archers that practice and enter competition every week. We also have our dance group, flag-wavers and professional musicians.

The dance Group brings traditional folkdances from Flanders (the north / Dutch-speaking part of Belgium). We have on our program the oldest traditional stick dance

’The Trawantel’; an original dance for the men of our village.

We wear traditional clothes from the region and sometimes dance on wooden clogs. Our musicians are professionals and semi-professionals and they will surely bring everybody ambiance with the accordion, violins and maybe some songs.

The program will be a mixture of :    -    original and very old traditional dances

-         new creations

-         flag-waving

The group has been participating in different festivals all over the world. Most off them were Cioff-festivals. We have been to Syria, Qatar, Austria, Portugal, Mexico, Rumania, Greece, Ireland, Ecuador, England, Turkey, Germany, Norway, Holland…
